Hundreds of comments come from younger shoppers who receive a Target Visa Gift Card for their birthday but hit an ID wall when attempting to register it online. Good news: you can still use the card—both in store and online—without a driver’s license.
1 – Swipe as Credit (No PIN, No ZIP)
At any U.S. card terminal, choose “Credit” and sign. The system skips ID and ZIP checks altogether.
2 – Have a Parent Assign Their ZIP
- Ask a parent or guardian to log in on MyBalanceNow.
- They can enter their ZIP code under Manage Card.
- You now pass AVS on Amazon, Xbox, and Roblox.
3 – Convert to a Target eGift Inside the App
Inside the Target app, tap Wallet → Gift Cards → Add Existing Card → scan. The eGift form requires no government ID and lets you shop same-day pick-up.
4 – Common Roadblocks & How to Clear Them
Problem | Fix |
---|---|
“Wrong ZIP” online | Assign a ZIP via portal or IVR |
Site asks for name | Use “GUEST CARDHOLDER” |
Declined on Xbox | Fund PayPal first, then pay Xbox |
